An Important Message about Court Safety
from your Pickleball Board.......
January 2019
A few weeks ago, we had an incident on the courts that has given us pause and concern about accidents that occur on the courts and the protocols to manage them. In this case, 911 was called to the scene, but the address which dispatchers ask for was difficult for those present to find.
HOA has been apprised of this issue and they have been asked to address signage so that this does not happen again.
This incident was a wake up call for all of us and we want to remind everyone of the following:
AED (Automated External Defibrillator): Each venue has one of these. They are hiding in plain sight (unless you are a woman). You will find one in the Mens Room at the Wagner Courts. There is a small sign indicating its presence near the entrance. The unit at Sage is really well hidden. This unit is on the back wall of the drinking fountain at the Sage Courts. Go figure.
First Aid Kits: The First Aid Kit at Wagner Courts is on the wall near the ice machine and drinking fountain. The First Aid Kit at Sage has appeared to have walked away and we are in the process of replacing it. It will be at the shade canopy (center court)
Regarding addresses to use when calling dispatch, please familiarize yourself with their location before you find yourself in an emergency situation At the Wagner Courts, you will find this signage right near the large court layout signage. It is a fairly small sign just above and to the left. At Sage, you will find the address at two locations. It is shown inside the Bulletin Board as you approach the courts from the parking lot. It is also on a pole that is near the shade canopy (center court).
We are also reviewing what we might do as a club to be more proactive as it relates to Safety on the courts.
Thanks
NOTE: Chartered Club rules require that an incident report be filled with the HOA. Please contact any Board Member should you find yourself in this situation.
