Sun City Festival Pickleball Club, Board of Directors Meeting Minutes.
March 1, 2024
The following were in attendance.
Beth Castle, President. Trevor Thorne, Vice President. Mark Swygert, Secretary. Chris Prellwitz, Treasurer (via phone). Rob Dryden, Director at Large, Player Development. Beth Castle called the meeting to order at 2:04 pm.
Minutes.
The meeting minutes for the Pickleball Club's Board of Directors meeting on February 2, 2024, were presented for approval. Chris Prellwitz made a motion to approve the minutes. Diana Ballato seconded the motion. The minutes were accepted by a unanimous vote of approval.
Treasurer's Report.
Chris Prellwitz presented the Treasurer's Report. The most recent Financial Report is posted on the Club's website.
Player Development.
Rob Dryden presented the Player Development Report. Craig Palermo will teach the 3.5 Skills & Drills sessions through April 2024. Demand for Skills & Drills sessions is high. Ways to include additional members for future Skills & Drills sessions will be considered.
Events & Tournaments.
Scott Moyer made the motion to survey Pickleball Club members regarding the selection of the Selkirk or Franklin ball for Club use. Rob Dryden seconded the motion. Scott Moyer, Rob Dryden, Diana Ballato, Trevor Thorne, and Chris Prellwitz voted yes for the motion. Beth Castle and Mark Swygert voted no for the motion. The motion passed.
President's Report.
Beth Castle presented Tournament updates. As of the Board meeting date, 155 members are registered for the In-House Tournament (IHT). Registration for the IHT ends on March 8. The IHT will feature a round robin format with a four game minimum for each registrant. A Pickleball letterhead was developed as an aid to seek donations for prizes.
Beth Castle met with Barb Waggoner, the President of the Sun City Festival Presidents Council, regarding a disciplinary matter for a Pickleball Club member. A letter was sent to the Pickleball Club member.
Apparel Sales.
Apparel sales are scheduled to begin on the second week of March, 2024. A link will be on the Club website. A bulk delivery to Sun City Festival once per week is planned to minimize shipping costs to the membership. The vendor (Classic Designs Unlimited) indicated the potential for monthly special pricing for selected apparel.
VP Report.
Trevor Thorne presented the Vice President's Report. A new ice machine to replace the one that was removed from the Wagner courts is on site at Sun City Festival and will be installed when a theft deterrent device is manufactured and installed. Phil McWilliams, the HOA Facilities Director, plans to order wind screens for Wagner and Sage courts.
Vice President Thorne chaired a meeting of the Capital Expenditures Committee. The committee identified additional sunshades for the Wagner courts, additional seating for the Sage and Wagner courts, and a wireless speaker system at the Wagner courts as their top three areas to gather further information.
Rotations & Coordinators.
Diana Ballato presented the Rotation Report. The Spring schedule begins April 1 and will end on May 15. The first morning rotation will begin at 9:00 am and the second morning rotation will begin at 10:30 am. Evening rotations will begin at 6:30 pm. All rotations will be 90 minutes duration.
