SCF Pickleball Board Minutes
November 18, 2021
A meeting of the Sun City Festival Pickleball Board members was held at the Sentia Center in the Antelope Room on 11/18/2021 at 4:00 pm.
Present
New Business
Elections - Voting ended and the following board members were elected to the SCF Pickleball Board starting Jan 1, 2022: Dave Owen (Vice-President), Cheryl Casey (Secretary), Nick Mirza (Player Development). An email was sent to club members informing them of the results.
By-Laws Update - Doug forwarded the new By-Laws written by Mark Comer and Dave Owen and approved by the board to Pulte for approval. Also included with the By-Laws was a summary and a red line version written by Mark. We are still awaiting their approval. Doug will contact them to see when we can expect the approval. The board would like to present them at the general meeting in December.
General Meeting - A general club meeting is scheduled for December 9, 2021 at 4:00 pm. Doug will contact Pulte to get a venue. Katie will send an email to all club members with the date and time of meeting. Included in the email will be an option for members to send in questions that may be answered at the meeting. The meeting will include a financial summary given by Mark, facts and figures on Court Reserve by Dave and the new By-Laws will be introduced. Volunteer requests will be made for upcoming events.
Paul Pelnar Bench Donation Update - A generous $1000 donation was given to the club in honor of Paul Pelnar. The donation was used to purchase 4 benches (2 at Wagner and 2 at Sage). A memorial plaque will be placed on each bench.
Upcoming Events - In-House Tournament was tentatively scheduled for March 21-25, 2022. Doug will inform Pulte of the dates. The club is still in search of a member to organize the tournament. Mark and Mary Comer will organize the Referee training. Hen House Tournament will be organized by Chris Prellwitz. Lynne Owen will contact Chris to determine the date. Mini 2.5/3.0 Tournament was tentatively scheduled for late February/early March. Doug will talk to Brock who has done it in the past. Dink-a-thon was postponed to the fall of 2022.
Name Tags - Mark will clean up the name tag process and pass it along to Cheryl Casey (new secretary) in January 2022.
APPL Residency - It was determined by the board that for a SCF APPL team to list their home courts as SCF a majority of players must be from SCF and they must play a majority of games.
