President's Message - February 1st, 2019
Well, February is upon us here at Festival and everyone is back from their holidays and busy getting back into their routines. That will manifest itself into additional court pressure as we look and wait for our game to come up.
If you see a new face walking around looking confused, please stop and say hi to them and see if they need help figuring out how to get into an appropriate game.
I talked about this a little at our recent all member meeting. We will be working on a more formalized structure for greeting newbies, but it will take some time to organize and get it right. Thanks to everyone who has expressed an interest in helping out on this initiative. We will be in touch.
Now, for some of your comments. We heard that the ball machine reservation protocol is a little too onerous for many of you. We will take a look and see if there is another way to help manage this. This might be a great area for a couple of volunteers to step up and become Ball Machine Ambassadors for the club.
It was also suggested that we consider more organized play for the entry level player. We can’t argue the need, but court availability and volunteers to help run these are the challenge.
Several other ideas and thoughts were shared with the Board. Thanks to everyone who attended and took the time to participate. There is a link to the entire meeting summary on our homepage and I encourage all of you to read it and keep in touch.
In closing, let me say that we are a large club, with all the complexities that come with it. Please be patient with us as we all strive to make “your club” the best club possible.
As I said at our meeting, you will never hear me ask you “Would you volunteer?”. You will hear me ask “What area would you like to help with?”
Our club is powered by volunteers. Are you one of them?

SCF Pickleball Club President
