I've been active in the pickleball club since 2016 when my husband Brad and I made a full time move to Festival from Kansas City, Missouri. I served on the Pickleball Board as a Director-at-Large in 2022. During the past year, I led the club's participation in the SCF Club Expo, assisted with the seasonal scheduling of rotations, assisted with the recent apparel sale and recruited a hard working team of volunteers to assist with club activities. I have past experience co-coordinating the 3.0 rotation. I also volunteer as a Sundancer for the City of Surprise including ushering at Spring Training baseball games.
If re-elected to the Board, I would continue to prioritize finding the right balance for various types of play and recruiting and supporting our volunteers.
My name is Chris Prellwitz and I am running for the Pickleball Board. I have been a member of the club since 2016 and have seen this club grow exponentially. Since my retirement I have become a passionate advocate for this sport. The great thing about pickleball is you can play at any age or level. My husband is a social player and I am a more competitive tournament player, yet we both enjoy playing equally! In our community in Iowa, my husband and I chaired a committee which raised $230,000 to build a six-court facility on our Middle School property. It is used by the students as part of their PE curriculum and is open to the public. We modeled these courts after our courts here at Wagner.
My degree is in accounting. My club volunteer duties included being a former court cleaner and chairing the Hen House tournament last year. Some of my prior volunteer experience includes being elected and serving sixteen years on the Mt. Pleasant Community School District board, being president for four years. In addition, I was elected to the Iowa Girls Athletic Union Board and served for eight years. This board oversaw, made rules/policy for all public and private schools in girls’ sports in Iowa. We were also in charge of all state sport competitions. My most recent experience was being elected as trustee to Iowa Southeastern Community College for five years. I served as board president for one year.
I have learned a lot about people and life serving in my different capacities as a volunteer. As the club continues to grow my volunteer experience can be an asset to the club. My only goal will be to listen and make decisions based on what is best for the club as a whole.
